All Day With NO Kids?!?!

I can't imagine staying home all day with no kids. Many can do it, my mom being one of them, but I get too depressed and go crazy!! I work 3 days a week while the kids are in school and ast week I did NOTHING during my days off. Sounds much lovelier than it was. I have to get out of house and have conversations with people. Working out at Body and Soul, having lunch dates with other stay at home momma's, and eating lunch with the kids are must do's on my days off. I can handle being home alone only about 2 hours in which I'll clean(or decorate) one room and then...start CRAFTING(or decorating)!

Here is what I did today.

Tip: Put headband on child before gluing or it might turn out insanely ginormous! Why can't I get these right?!?! I'll keep trying... At least the skirt turned out pretty cute. I almost made a matching shirt, but the headband kinda got me outta the mood!!!
These are the few things I did during this summer when time was much more limited...

Also this summer, we've been having fun with shrink-a-doodles. I wanted to try an experiment, though. Here is the normal white background name brand stuff which Avery created by herself... and here is an uglier designed version of a melted Pei Wei container! Works just the same with a semi-foggyish background. I also tried a totally clear container and it worked great too!
It's been fun trying new things like shrinking plastics and making wire jewelry, but it's nice getting to sew outfits again!! I'm gonna have to browse Etsy and steal some cute shirt ideas!!

Did I really just post about my crafts before posting the first day of school pics? Crud. I'll do that tomorrow.

Quick Crafting

Welcome to my craft room. This picture was taken after my little sister had cleaned/organized for an entire day! It looks better now, but not complete by any means. I would love a black futon and black/white rug if anyone has one they want to sell!!! She sure is good at organizing...
It's been so long since I've made anything that my body was going into withdrawal mode. This past month, I got my little crafting fix taken care of!
I threw together this little bandana dress for Avery. Not real summery but it's one of those "whatever I could find" dresses. I wanted to make a matching headband and necklace. That necklace was literally a throw together with no rhyme or reason and I kinda like it! I wanted to try out a three stranded necklace. I thought the strands were a little too close for how chunky the beads were but I still like it! I tried making my sis-in-law one more spread out but I think it's a little too far apart! My little sister found a picture of a necklace she wanted and it was priced at $160!!!!! Do people really pay that? Anyway, I made her a look a like. I decided I do like the strands closer together after all and I prefer the ribbon instead of the clasp!
These are so easy people, please do not pay $100+ for a necklace...unless you want to give me that much!

Finished a little more...

I finished one corner! I'd really like to paint a swinging monkey on the opposite corner where the gymnastics bar is...but I'm thinking that won't happen...
I'd like to get a bigger TV for the wall also, that little TV just doesn't cut it.
This is what the room looked like before... Zane has been keeping busy while I paint by playing outside in the mud or pulling out toys that never get played with like bendaroos...
I tend to like eyeballs that are bigger than the yellow balls.
This is the room I'm working on now! I'm hoping to finish it soon.
Since I know you wanted a better look at the insanely huge plant...
Both over-sized items are out, tile is laid, new door is installed, paint is up...we just need drywall/texture in a small area and curtains!!

Back to Crafting!!

If feels so good to dust off the sewing machine and complete some projects!! It's a busy playroom so I figured busy curtains would fit.
My sister came over and helped make dirty whitish peeish looking cushions into black wipeable cushions! Paint, marker, playdough, no worries!
(baseboards coming soon!)
My mom painted the sunroom last weekend and I painted this armoire. It needs a little touching up in some areas but it's coming along! This is where all things arts and kid's crafts will be held.
(cleaning the floors coming soon!)
I didn't make these curtains, but I picked them out and actually like them! This would be a first!! You have no idea how much picking out curtains makes me nauseous. I was forced to make a quick decision when I came out of the shower one day, turned around, and saw giggling faces staring at me from the living room windows...
You may have noticed all three rooms are blue. I apparently like blue. Hopefully I will be able to post pictures of these rooms completed sometime in the next three months...

And we were hit...

Saturday, our little monkey was his normal crazy self...
The lovely "look I cut my bangs, daddy will be so happy with me" picture... The "I like stealing mommy's camera" picture...
But then it turned to the Sunday morning "Lay by a trashcan and watch netflix all day" picture...
(We are trying out a free month of netflix. We choose on the computer and it instantly comes to our TV. It may be a keeper!)
What does a mommy do when they have a sick kid?
Let the TV babysit them and pull out the crafts, of course!!

I made a little 2 year old a tutu...
and a matching funky headband. Not sure what I think about it...
But just in case I liked the above headband, I decided to throw one together for Avery... I started this purse last Saturday at a friend's house during a craft morning of sewing and crocheting. I finished it up this weekend...and Love it!
Even though I enjoyed some days of craftiness, hopefully this sickness passes quickly! Friday it was Avery with a low grade fever and now it's Zane. Don't they know I need to be at Body and Soul classes on Monday and Fridays?!?

I need another baby girl...

I sadly was not crafty when Avery was a baby. I had sooo much fun making this! Avery was very excited thinking it was actually for her bear...I guess I'll be making another! I then found a perfect matching onesie!! I can't wait to see miss Curryn in it! The hooded towel I made matches her nursery which is very gender neutral. I wanted to sew red ric-rac around the orange to make it a little more girlie, but I ran out of time. Now on to something almost as adorable. The fashionable combination Zane put together today...it was actually hot enough so we did indeed go to target like this! The blue jacket that was a size too small really topped it off!

December...

We've been pretty busy this month! The kid's got to show the church everything they have been learning in bible class this year...
Wes and I went to his work party. I believe this is our first date in months...
Britt and Brant watched the kids and decorated cookies while Wes and I were at the party...
The Tur-Bus's monthly crafting's...
Different hand/foot prints
Homemade clay ornaments.
(Eli's, Evie's-I made!, Jax's, Ry's)
We made made these too! Avery and Zane's creations...
I got the itch to make something the other night and decided to whip up a quick, easy, and cheap fleece scarf along with a shirt for Avery. My sewing machine was great with the scarf but frustrated me like crazy with the shirt. It kept getting stuck, skipped stitches, pulled the shirt all weird. Ugh. It doesn't look too hot, but it works. I should probably clean out my machine...
I also made a necklace for her. For some reason, this is how I get filled up. I get so giddy when I make her something I like. I think I get more excited than she does...I'm crazy.

I'm bringing crafty back...

It's been FOREVER since I've scrapped. I realized how much I missed it when I put together this little scrapbook last weekend... While I worked on the scrapbook, Zane's created a little masterpiece himself.
The first was spiderman...
and then a less detailed, Green Goblin...
Now that Zane is in PM pre-K (that story coming later), we get to enjoy playdates again!! Nothing crafty about this...but, thought I'd throw it in.
More pot creatures! I can't wait to make my turkey!! Then maybe a Reindeer?!
They also made little baby pine cone turkey's as well...
I just love crafts. I'm glad my kids do too!
