Inside a photo shoot

After making 3 of these turkey shirts... I was so over Thanksgiving and ready to move on.
So I'm a little early, but I couldn't help myself. You may be wondering, how many ruffled jean skirts can a girl have? Or you could care less! Either way, I vow to never make Avery another one until she outgrows these!
This is what a photo shoot looks like. I will start by saying I am not a photographer nor do I know how to work my camera. That said, I tell A to start posing. The first one is always some weird sexy teenage looking pose in which I remind her she isn't Hannah Montana but someone trying to make Santa smile...and she becomes a reindeer!? Then I get...akward IBS looking pose...Then I get one that I think is it...But decide one more just in case...
and it becomes the winner!

Wes is back on ATRA and having been off of it for 2.5 months, he is back to bad headaches, nausea, and just feeling icky. Pray his body adjusts to it and he feels better quickly! He only has to be on it for 2 weeks, then gets another 2.5 month break.

Random Thoughts Thursday.

Pretend this isn't a picture of a messy room. Can you see why I freaked out frantically looking for Zane the other day. Not a typical hiding place as there is a bed under there. He is on his side leaning up against it! Teacher conferences on Friday made for a good science museum trip. It ended up being chemistry day so there were several little experiements. One was making slime!
Everyday the past couple of weeks there has been nonstop pecking on our mast bath window. I finally started complaining about it and wow. Wes is so smart. He pushed the screen up and problem solved. I just don't know what I'd do without him.

A couple of weeks ago was my blog's first birthday! I can't believe it has been that long since my First post. Nothing has changed btw. Occurs EVERY SATURDAY. Every year "goes by fast" but there truly has never been as fast a year as this one.
I've gotten used to smucker's organic peanut butter. We recently ran out and I made a pbj with Wes's peter pan. Ruined I tell you. That used to be my favorite brand but now it just tastes like hydrogenated vegetable oil. Yuck.
Tuesday morning, when I was getting Zane's lunch ready to leave for school...
Z- Are we a little bit late or a whole bunch of lates?
Me- We aren't late!
Z- Not at all?
Me- Nope!
Z- Are you sure?
Me- Yes...starting to wonder why this is so suprising...
Z- In real life?
Me- We are actually early today. I didn't know that was so unheard of around here :( Now that I think about it though...I think it has been lately. You people have gotten me wanting to check your blogs instead of take my precious boy to school.

I really need to go to Wal-mart but for some reason that sounds super not exciting. As if it ever is.
Someone is learning new poses from somewhere...which is nice because my facebook album was looking a little redundant. This sucess makes me want to try making more dresses! Am I too old to wear this? I want to look cute.
Yes, Natalie I have made something for Zman...
I also have made a lightening mcqueen shirt. I'm trying to find/think of more boy stuff but the majority is all too babyish for my liking. I wasn't even sure about this...but its grown on me :)

Have a Happy Thursday!

Camera Found!

We finally found our camera this weekend, so I am a little late with this. I was very excited Avery got over the swine flu quickly and Wes didn't get sick so we were able to go on the CR family retreat Halloween weekend along with over 70 others.
We got there Saturday morning after Zane's soccer game. We had some free time to feed the horses. Thanks to Christi for taking the pictures!
We played several little group games which made me sore later on! It's a great workout stealing all those bandanas!!

I had no idea Avery could braid hair. Who taught her that?! She asked me if she could braid my hair and I was totally prepared to see anything but this... While Zane and Wes took a nap, we carved a pumpkin.
A very intricate ghost! It was time to dress up now. Avery decided on Hannah Montana this round-minus the wig.
Once everyone was ready, we had a big scavenger hunt which my family almost won but that dern little rat was hiding very good! Another great workout, as I ran almost the whole time. I like winning prizes!! Then we trick or treated all around to everyone's room. I took them around while Wes stayed in the room to pass out candy Then we went to play carnival games
I looked crazy in this picture! But right after it, we went on a fun hayride! We went to bed early and missed the staying up late playing games this year. The Sunday worship was great and then it was back home. I can't believe it has been a year since we did it last. So fun.

OC Homecoming

After a 10 minute talk of who is 5, 5 and a quarter, and 5 and half, we took this picture. I wonder when they will realize this will never change. It seems to be a recurring conversation! Not sure about you, but I think this one was the best looking float...However, this one was Classic. I bet my brother in law is so proud to be a founder of the Scotts! They did ya proud Zac! (Those who have no idea what this is a picture of...the Chi Scotts are on suspension for hazing and are being made fun of by the Delta guys)Yea, really don't have anything to say about this one ;)Candy!!!!Pony rides!!
Photo shoot time. I was not wearing sweats and a T-shirt, so of course I had to take a picture.
Wes and I haven't taken a picture together or had a date in a while. However, my lovely sis in law kept our kids overnight so we were able to accomplish both tonight! He looks super excited! No, we didn't mean to match! When I told him we were matching he almost went to change.

Can't stop sewing!!

Mom, I'm finally putting the sewing machine you got me to great use! It took me a while to find someone who could teach me but thanks so much to Gina for the 2 one hour (or less!) lessons! I made quite a few pieces of garbage but I'm finally getting the hang of it! Here are some of my latest!
I love the Fall season!! I realized I can make bows which was exciting!!

I love this cupcake outfit. What you don't see is the two times I sewed part of neck together. So frustrating! This one turned out cute but that flower took a while trying to make all the curves as perfect as possible! I have fallen in love with fabric paint on clothes. The stencil being cut out of freezer paper and ironed on (then peeled off when done). This isn't my favorite as I just wanted to hurry, get it done, wash it, and see how it turned out! It makes a cute soft shirt. The paint stays great and it doesn't leave an itchy inside for babies like appliques tend to do. I will be doing more of these soon!! Thought I'd try making a skirt from scratch! Learned a lot of what to do and not do next time! I also tried fabric paint (owl body) along with sewing and realized you can't sew over paint! It ends up tearing apart where the paint and stitches meet after a few washings! Maybe if I would have sewed first and then painted?Avery liked the owl and wanted one for herself so I did it again but with material! This is a fun retro outfit and I love the way it turned out! I don't have an embroidery machine to monogram so I used fabric paint for the M! I've also enjoyed making hooded towels. First one (pink) I tried making corners and did terrible. So next (green) I just rounded the corners and it was better.

These two were better but still not perfect! The front would look great but the back would shift and wouldn't look as good as the front. I think I should probably spend the extra time pinning every 6 inches and that would help a lot!

Get ready to do Christmas shopping for me at Hobby Lobby!!! Start early so you catch the sales :)

Voted Best Dressed Today!

Avery usually dresses herself. If I make something or during holidays, I may pick it out but other than that she is on her own and does a pretty good job!
Well, yesterday afternoon I started getting a headache. It progressively got worse and medicine wasn't helping like it usually did. I went to after hours but they said it sounded like I needed a CAT scan and didn't even look me over before sending me to the ER. I went to the ER and the scan of course was normal. I was competely ready to hear I had a massive brain tumor, it hurt so bad. After five hours in the ER, I came home (at 3am). I was still drugged and unable to wake up this morning, so my sister came to take Avery and Zane to school! When she got back, this is house I found her...

Still wearing the bow and necklace from yesterday. Poor neglected child! Sorry Avery. This is not one of your best outfits!!
