Oh Dear...We're Exposed...

Both kids had performances today in which I will post about later. It will take a lot longer to upload those pictures...
I looked at Zane's "Me Book" this evening and didn't know what to think about this...First of all, he knows my eyes are blue...but that is the least of my concern. Under my job description, I think he left off several things that I WILL be reminding him of tomorrow! Sure, forget all the trips to the park, sonic happy hour, science museum, children's museum, arts and crafts time, etc. etc. etc. Forget the laundry you see me fold every week and the lunch I make you everyday!! Your daddy already thinks I am on the computer too much (I usually do most of it at night) and you aren't helping me out here... It's actually a grueling job often times but you will thank me 20 years from now bud.
I will say it's sweet to know he actually kind of pays attention to me though. Noodles really are my favorite but I wouldn't have guessed he would have noticed! When we go to Pei Wei and other Asian places, I ask for noodles instead of rice...love love love me some noodles!
Wes's was pretty funny too...
Daddy's job is to put syrup on waffles. Yes. That is what pays the bills and therefore should never ever stop!!! See Wes, he will always remember that precious time you and him spend in the morning making his breakfast...you should think about that when you roll over on the weekends and say "it's your turn to do breakfast"...you just wouldn't be doing your job if you didn't do it for him ;)

I love how you are special because you eat snacks with him. You big pushover. I know how to say NO and actually mean it and he still "likes me"!!!

Now for his little drawings. I love 3 year olds drawing people. So cute! Here is Sept 09
A little different on April 2010. I guess he only wanted one eyebrow...or he just ran out of time!
For Mothers day, I actually had all my Tur-Bus kids draw a picture of their mommy. I encouraged them to try and draw an oval body right under the head. He was able to do it! He recently started drawing two circles for eyes and will even draw glasses sometimes! He gives people ears now and eyebrows sometimes! I was suprised to see fingers and toes too!
They grow up too fast...
Welp, I am off to make an exhaustive list of every duty that is included in my job description. They will have until the weekend to memorize it ;)

This is Why C-Sections are Better...

This is Kayla and Mandy has not approved this message...
We got a text from Mandy at 7am Tuesday May 11th saying her water broke. A few hours later she told Brittany she should be having him that afternoon since she was dialated to a 2 and starting pitocin. (Not sure why she thought that but preggo people...just plan for 18 hours!! That way you are prepared! Even if you are progressing fast at the beginning and even if the doctors say it should be quick. They are trying to be encouraging and don't realize they are getting your hopes up and will soon be resented and maybe even hated a few hours later. So yes. Plan for 18 hours.) So here she was looking happy when we got there around 2:30pm...Zac was all excited in this picture!

The doctor came when Mandy was dialated to a 4 saying he was called into an emergency c-section. He cut her pitocin off a ton so she wouldn't have it when he was away...then there was another c-secion as well...

This is all we did until around 7pm....stare at her contractions on this computer screen... Hers and the other girls next to her. When one would turn off we'd talk about how she probably went to the bathroom. When it totally went away, we would walk by her room to see if she had the baby. One time we saw one being wheeled away to the c-section. I wonder if she knew she was causing us to wait even longer. I guess there is only 1 doctor per six rooms.

Oh and we ate coffee cake my mom made. Brittany is off sweets this month and so was I...but she's much stronger than me...
The kids were going to start throwing up if they ate anymore cake, starbursts or M&M's, so we busted out pbskids.org... In my excitment, I forgot leapsters, coloring books, healthy snacks, etc.
I just drove off to Arkansas! Crazy me.
Finally around 7pm someone checked her again and there was no more progress. When they dropped the pitocin way down progression ceased. (The doctor did not realize we were on a time crunch.) The nurse said her blood pressure was up a little and Zac started panic mode. Wait, that mode started as soon as Avery and Zane walked in the door (Just so I can make fun of him later. If one of the kids got too close to the bed, he would tell them to move. I guess he thought Mandy was a frail old lady standing on a balance beam that would fall to her death if bumped)...It was just much more intensified...so we left and went to eat at Olive Garden while they upped her pitocin again. At around 9pm, she was at a 7 so we killed more time and went to their house to rest for a little while. At 10 she was at an 8 and at 11 she hadn't been checked yet but we thought we should get back up there again. Avery had fallen asleep at Mandy's and stayed asleep in the waiting room...Zane was bouncing off the walls at Mandy's but was starting to tucker out in the waiting room...Mandy was checked and she was ready!! I think it was around 11:30!! I got to rub her legs and hold them back while she pushed...wow my back was killing me after 30 mins...So Brittany and I switched places...
She finally had the baby at 1:18am May 12!! We used all of her camera's to take pics and video...so I have no pictures of baby yet. I must say, when he came out he was very purple blue and looked a little scary. I was a little worried and didn't know if that was normal. It didn't help when he said he would be putting baby on mommy but then quickly said he was going to the nurse first...after a few seconds with the nurse, we heard a cry! Yay!!! His color changed immediately and he looked like a precious little baby!! He was having trouble getting oxygen so they put a tube down his throat and sucked out a lot of greenish brown fluids (he had taken care of buisness inside of Mandy). We were able to get a picture of Zac holding the baby real fast and then he was taken to nursery. I didn't get to hold my little nephew, so I held my own...
but he was getting very heavy, so I put him down. Avery was awake and saw Mason in the nursery but then she fell back asleep as well... By 2:30am, we needed to get back home and so we made the 3 hour long drive back home. Man, it was a long 3 hours. Mason had to stay in the nursery until 4:30am when he was able to nurse. Around 7am they had to take him back after turning blue again. Mandy then passed out while trying to take a shower. They were going on not much food and no sleep. She was fine, and at 1pm Mason was still having trouble figuring out how to breathe on his own and Mandy and Zac were very anxious to hold their baby. It had been 31 hours of no sleep, and a hard and exhausting labor. Mandy got some rest and they were able to nurse again that evening. I'm anxiously awaiting to see how everything is going now and if Mason is strong enough to go home yet.
Update- I was called right after I posted this and was told Mandy was able to leave today, but she is going to stay one more night since Mason has to be on IV antibiotics for one more day. He is off of his oxygen monitor and is doing well. They will go home tomorrow sometime!!

He was 8 pounds 1 oz with a big head and 21 inches long! The normal size head for a newborn is about 31 cm. Mason's head is 35cm! (When you picture an episiotomy, do you think of a little scalpul and a small cut? Oh NO, it's big scissors he just chopped down. I may threw up a tiny coffee cake.) Can't wait to hold him!!

I love being a Mommy!

Well...except the kitchen counter tops always being full of papers and dishes and the house looking like a tornado went through it...and the massive amounts of sobbing that occur when you get two neighbor girls together. Seriously, the drama is insane. Oh, and then there is the life ending tragedy when McDonalds give you a girl toy instead of a hot wheels...hmmm...yea. Other than that, it's so rewarding!!!

Oh Dear...

It's always fun hooking up the camera and finding interesting pictures...

Really? What disney movie is this in??

This is the reason I was hooking up the camera...I know I just did a photo shoot with this skirt, but I made a matching top and after church yesterday, Avery requested to take new pictures. Why is this photo shoot MUCH different than the previous one? What are they really teaching my precious one at church these days????

Becoming Amish is starting to sound really fun...

Over The Weekend

Have you all noticed my blog has been devoid of anything interesting the past month or so? No? It always has? Oh well, my grandma probably enjoys it and really that's all that matters.
We went to the Arts Festival this weekend and got ourselves the worst Indian Taco EVER. It had no taco meat but only beans, giving it no flavor. I still scarfed the whole thing down but was a little disappointed, not gonna lie.
Since we were poor and didn't feel like paying a ton of money to ride little rides, we found the one free thing there...
The facepaint was even $1 and the bouncy toys were $2 to play on it 2 times. That means climb the ladder and slide down. BAM. $1 worth. Is that CRAZY!!? Maybe I am just the crazy tightwad!? Don't answer. Regardless, we thought the enjoyment of cotton candy would last longer...
Sunday, we participated in The Walk for Hope. We went all crazy and chose the big 2 mile course. We ROCK. We know.
Did anybody else notice Mr. Zane has the same shirt on at both of these events? Well, ever since I made it on Friday, he has worn it. That would be 4 days in a row without it being washed. It was finally washed yesterday and what do you think he put on for school today?? When I told him to take it off, he said noooooo we are supposed to wear yellow today! I tried to find the dern school calendar to see if that was correct. No success. I grabbed a different yellow shirt and said we will save the batman one for Thursday! I guess the spiderman costume was so two month's ago and jammies everyday was so last month's fashion. Moving on to bigger and better things...

Fun ruffly skirt!

I always get so excited when I make something that is wearable and adorable. I am sure I am bias...but I was pretty giddy about this one. I felt it was worthy of a photo shoot and here is her normal model pose...Here is a stripper looking outtakeThis one is after I said look sweet. I don't think she has mastered what angles create double chins yet...probably because I don't tell her.Lastly, just stand there normal (Aka- try and look only 5 years old)...
Love this skirt! Am I too old to wear one!!?

Random pictures/projects

The kids are going to have a joint birthday party this year and its still a month and a half away, but I am already getting excited about it...I may be going overboard?? Can you guess Zane's theme? I don't do pretty gardens. These flowers came with our house and actually look somewhat decent for about 2 weeks out of the year, so I figured I would get a picture of them! The far right are all yellow...
The middle are purple and the far left are all white...I think I would have mixed them all up, but to each is own.
Wes and the kids entertained themselves by putting on a photo shoot. Very loud laughing and a lot of let me see it let me see it...
and wait...I gotta stop laughing...
and daddy take it faster, I can't keep from laughing...which makes very lovely constipated looking faces...
