My Life In Scrubs

I have picked up a couple more kids this school year. A little sweet 3.5 month old girl and 4 year old boy. I needed a baby fix, so it's perfect. She just eats, sleeps, or smiles on a blanket. Not much work there. The 4 year boy goes to a mother's day out, so I just have him a little before and after school. So far, he's the most precious perfect boy. He tells me stories and the end of every sentence is usually "It was just so funny. Just so so funny!"

Since the kids didn't have school yesterday, we watched a movie after nap time. Our neighbors, Bella and Maycee were came over for the movie as well. There are lovely spots on the picture above and I believe it has something to do with the rug-rats who took the pictures below...
Zane must have been real proud of his artwork. The tree on the right is what his teacher drew. She drew letters and Zane drew some. When he came home, he wanted to make another one all by himself. I don't remember what he said the far right pic was and the far left is a person with reallllllly long fingers. Not sure which kid this is...I have no idea?!

Bella and Henry's pucker is almost identical.

I'm not sure when those pictures took place? When Wes was watching them? When I went to the bathroom? Who knows. They are quick and sneaky.

It's amazing the treasures you can find when you clean out and organize the kids arts/crafts cabinet. Painting little suncatchers is a great afternoon activity!

I've been in scrubs a lot lately, but today I have on jeans! I'm determined to put on real clothes and a tad bit of makeup everyday. Everyone else can do it. Surely I can too.

Random Thoughts Thursday

We have been house hunting the past couple of weeks and so I have been put on a Starbucks, Mardel's and Hobby Lobby freeze. This is really hard folks.

That last statement sounds terrible after just coming back from Honduras.

I just love school time in the fall. It stays light outside for a long time, so we have plenty of time to play with neighbors, go for walks, and many other activities.

I'm super nervous for when/if homework starts. I'm not a homework in Elementary school kinda person, unless they are behind in something. I believe kids should be kids. Sitting down and drawing pictures for people is better use of time than homework. So far we are good. Hopefully it stays that way! I'm thinking no more than 15 mins a day for a first grader...am I in denial of reality?

Once sports start it will probably get a little crazier, but I just love sports. I may love it more than them. They say they want to play, but I'm not sure they'd be upset if we took a break. We aren't serious at anything though (even gymnastics!). We don't practice at home except maybe twice a year. I don't want them to get burnt out. I just want them to have fun.

This may be TMI...but I probably won't show this to Zane until he is 20, so I should be good!

Z: "I made my wee wee fat"

W: What?

Z: "I rubbed my wee wee and it turned fat!"

Hahaha....so glad he realized that at 4 years old........I was thinking more like 12....

He has also been going around saying some line with the word nugga in it. It sounded a little too much like something else but I finally realized he was talking about Naga from his Bakugan Tag book. So we stress the "a" a little better now!

How do you get a husband to be excited and passionate about fostering/adopting!? I've always wanted 4 kids but I just couldn't do it again being so sick...so I'm tied up. Speaking of my pregnancies, it's probably a REALLY good thing I didn't blog or facebook during then. It would have been Waaah Waaah Waaaah everyday.

How cool would that be for our entire church to do a cardboard testimony? It would take 4 hours...but it would be amazing.

Summer Restaurant.com Finds

We tend to eat out at the same place (On the Border) and never branch out. There are so many places we have never tried, so I thought this would be the best way to try things. If we didn't like it, at least we got about 50% off our meal! Last summer, I had more time being bored and reading blogs in the evenings while I watched Wes look all pathetic!! I read about restaurant.com having an 80% off sale. Not knowing they had those sales ALL THE TIME, I quickly bought 12 $25 gift certificates for $24. Problem was, Wes was just starting work again after being out for 5 months, so he was busy playing catch up. He was also EXHAUSTED when he got home. Plus we really had no money to eat out! Those certificates were filed away and forgotten. I found them and realized they were set to expire the end of July (a year after purchasing), so we had better start using them!

I'll start with the most fun: Incredible Pizza (which is no longer called this, but they accept the coupon). I think I was the only mom that had never taken her kids to a place like this just a few months ago. My nephew had is party at Chuck E's and then we ate here last month. Whew. I can check that off the list of things to do before the kids are teenagers! BTW Indredible Pizza was MUCH better than Chuck E's!

We ate in the Disney Movie Room and got to watch Tinker Bell's latest... We rode some fun go carts... and played this game the most (since we could all help step on the buttons when they lit up and thus winning us more tickets!) Zane was not happy when he didn't win any tickets from bowling! Biggest complaint...unlike Chuck E's where you can win candy, here you can only win plastic bugs and crap I will throw away after 3 minutes! Kids loved it though and it was 10pm before we knew it. We'll have to go again!

Next up was actually not from restaurant.com (although it may be there). Zorba's is a yummy Greek place. We were celebrating Wes and Zane's bday.

My Pizza was sooo yummy!

1492 New World Latin Cuisine was awesome! Never had such good salmon! The desserts are huge so don't think you are hungry enough to tackle one yourself. Oh, and I don't recommend my milk cake or whatever it was. Wes's was much better!

This might be my favorite. Cafe Pranzo. Awesome pesto chicken pizza. Yummy bruchetta! Very nice cute décor. The pizza is even amazing as leftovers!

Not pictured: Mamasitos. Might be my favorite Mexican restaurant. With this coupon the price is great!

Rococo. It's dark inside so when you go in, you can't see anything until your eyes adjust! Very overpriced asparagus that weren't as good as what I make at home, but the pasta dish I ate was great! Would never eat here without the coupon but nice date night set up.

Le Cep Bistro. My food was great but I can't remember what it was other than chicken! It was different and nothing like I had ever had before, but I loved it.

Nancy's 57th Street Lighthouse. They should probably advertise this is mainly a bar and smoking is allowed inside. We walked in and immediately walked out. Our lungs were relieved we did not eat there.

Jazmoz Bourbon Street Cafe. I found this one the day after it expired. I was shocked when they told me over the phone they would not accept it. If people who have never stepped foot in your restaurant are wanting to, I'd let them! Now I will never go.

The others all expired and were trashed. We definitely got our $24 worth though!

They're Off...

Similar to birds kicking their babies out to fly...this whole school thing just comes naturally to me. I get excited for them and excited for free time.

On Information Day, we found out Avery's teacher is an OC Theta Alum that knows my little sister, so that is exciting. This was the best of three shots. He was obviously not in the mood to take a picture by his cubby so we didn't even try for one with his teacher.

Now for the super stressful thing going on this week: We made an offer on a foreclosure! So excited but also HATE the wait and HATE moving...so this will be interesting.

The Last Kidz Kamp

Around The World Theme

We learned about 3 different countries today: South Africa, Mexico, and China. We saw pictures of their flags, where they were located on the map, what houses look like, what the kids look like, what they eat, how they dress, and other facts about each one.

First up was South Africa. We made masks similar to what the people there wear during various celebrations or ceremonies. Only skilled dancers wore these masks. Here are our skilled dancers... (I had Britt laminate them real fast and bring them back. Hopefully they will last a little longer that way!) We then played a Number Safari Game. I hid numbers (1-20) around the living room and gave each person either a number or a math problem and said Go! The last person to find their number sits out and the person who lasted the longest won a sucker. Good job to our winner, Lily! Good job also to our first two to have to sit out... Next up we read an awesome Poem called Box of Crayons. We sang Jesus Loves the Little Children (every color dark or light version) and read Hermie the Common Caterpillar (By Max Lucado). These all centered around the theme of people being unique! Looking different, talking different, having different talents, but everyone being special. They are singing very loudly...It was time for Mexico. We enjoyed a very authentic snack of nachos and salsa while we went over facts (and reviewed SA facts again) China time! We made a very lovely version of the Chinese Dragon We pretended it was the Chinese new year and celebrated with a very much scaled down version of the dragon! I totally forgot to have them play with the Tangram game...but it got sent home with them.

Summer T-Ball 2010

Here is Zane's team with Coach Billy. He had a lot of fun this summer We were a tad late for his first game because the dern ice cream truck pulled up as we were getting in the car. I told them to hurry and eat it but that didn't happen...

So we just had to eat it in the car. He was pretty sticky.

Wes set up a little field in our backyard to practice with him one evening. It was so cute and Zane loved it. We've never practiced sports at home but he enjoyed hanging out with daddy so much, maybe we will start!
