Kidz Kamp Week 1!

Garden Theme

We painted flower pots. Very original...

We went over some fun facts about gardening. Worms, ladybugs, how important trees are, how to know when you need to water your plants, and many many more. We also learned a song which they sang very loudly!!
We went over a diagram of a flower and talked about what the different parts do. We labeled the four parts by sounding out each letter at a time and writing them out.
We then put that knowledge to use when doing a science experiment involving white flowers and food coloring...
The experiment takes several hours to start showing, so I had these already done... I guess I forgot to take picture of them digging and planting some ground covering in my front flower bed, but we did that and I hope this year I can keep them alive...

We then washed our hands and enjoyed yummy mud, dirt, worms, and sticks for snack along with some water to help us grow! Water not pictured yet! Free play for a little bit...wasn't on schedule but I go with the flow! I LOVE this picture...angelic. Last activity was going over the differences between fruits and veggies. We had a game to play but free play booted the game out! The older kids practiced writing (by themselves) words that had to do with Gardening from A to Z. I was excited all of them were into it and really took off. The younger ones colored pictures of fruits and veggies and then cut them out and pasted them into two grocery bags labeled either fruits or vegetables. It was a success! If you are interested in having your child be a part of this, let me know. I tried to invite everyone! It's almost every Friday this summer and I'm sure there will be weeks someone misses leaving a spot open for your precious one.

How Did I Not Know About This?

I thought I knew all the parks/museum's in this area. How did I miss one that was free!? Martin Nature Park had less animals than I expected on the trail (maybe the animals prefer cooler weather?) but it was still a great place!

They had an indoor center with coloring pages and I heard there are often little crafts to do at this little table as well...but not the day we came :( There were also several little creatures glassed in that you could look at and we got to watch fish get fed dried worms! Here they are petting a snake... There was also a little room full of books and puppets. We didn't stay here long but I'm sure I could have sat down with a book while they entertained themselves for a while here...they were VERY sad we did not stay in here longer
Here we are hiking the trails....or looking at rolly pollies...
I was prepared and brought some bread just in case! Did you know these animals hiss if they think you seem a little scary?! It was kinda crazy!
We finally found the lookout tower....and found water!
What crazy babysitter would forget plates or paper towels?? Seriously. Those poor neglected kids had to hold their pbj the whole time and then eat eat blueberries out of their hands...
After that, we celebrated a young rockstar's bday with some frozen yogurt!
The Tur-bus has a fun busy summer schedule. I think the driver deserves monthly massages...

Can you hold an egg while balancing over chicken poo?
This is how she prefers to cool off
I'm pretty sure she has never gone a single day without doing this...
Swimming time at the neighbors!!
Kiddie Park Season!!

Screaming while inside the train tunnel...
The only picture we were able to get with this creature that I believe is Kermit the Frog?

Oh yea, it was this dude's 29th Birthday too! Last year he got a sappy post, this year...he gets this...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Monday we left our little boy to play with his Pa Pa while we came home...

He was a little nervous to stay by himself, but he did it! He was missing Henry he said but he has been having a great time. I'll be ready to see him this coming weekend!!

Kindergarten Graduation

Minus the Wind Beneath My Wings song playing when you walk into the gym, it was a cute fun little program! My camera was on the wrong setting I'm sure, so the pictures aren't the greatest.

Her very awesome teacher!

When we got home she said "When you graduate you are supposed to do this..."
I realized I didn't get a single picture of her and I so we gave it a try ourselves...although she is looking in the mirror instead of at the camera! Oh well. I just needed proof I attended this glorious day!
I know everyone is very sad to know that I could not upload any videos of the graduation. I will try again for the family members but I had one loading all night long and it's still loading.

Oh dear. I'm already getting flashbacks of my childhood and the evil witch of a 1st grade teacher I had...
